They did it again! Balki savored his Santa Snacks Crunchy Dog Biscuits. I really enjoy the holiday themed variety that Blue Buffalo has created. I’m surprised other companies haven’t done the same. The stores are packed with Christmas doggie delights, but it’s not often that I see a really familiar product with a little holiday twist. It’s fun to buy new things for our dog to try, but we don’t always have a lot of time to make sure they are healthy by reading and re-reading the labels. This was an easy call. We already knew the product was healthy and we saw a fun new flavor. This is one of the few times when we have just grabbed something off of the shelf and put it straight into the cart without scrutinizing the package.
The Santa Snacks are oatmeal and cinnamon flavored. The ingredients are exactly the same as the Boo Bars, but the ratios are clearly different. These smell more like cinnamon and you can actually see bits of oatmeal and flaxseed. They are slightly bigger and they are in fun holiday shapes: stars, trees, and gingerbread men. They are a bit more dense at 36 calories per biscuit, which is more than two times what the Boo Bars have. I wonder if they will keep adding holidays. Memorial Day Morsels, anyone?
